What Spdio does
A Mac command. Finder to choose. Desktop to collect the files.
Vocals and instrumental
Each track becomes two MP3s on the Desktop: vocals and music, ready to listen to or reuse.
Finder, then Desktop
spdio opens Finder. You pick one or more songs. The files land on the Desktop.
Space and Enter
Space opens Finder for more songs. Enter closes. The model stays loaded.
One command
curl once, then type spdio. No app to drag into Applications.
First run
The AI engine (~1.5 GB) downloads once. After that it works offline.
How it works

Install with curl
Paste the command above in Terminal. It puts spdio in ~/.local/bin.

Finder opens. Pick an MP3, WAV, FLAC or M4A. The first run downloads the AI engine.

Vocals and music are on the Desktop. Space for another song, Enter to quit.

What is Spdio?
Spdio is a macOS command that splits a song into vocals and music. Type spdio, Finder opens, two MP3s land on the Desktop. Nothing is uploaded.
How do I install it?

Are my songs sent anywhere?
No. After the first-time AI engine download (PyTorch packages / the model), nothing leaves the computer. Files go to your Desktop.
Why is the first run slow?
The AI engine (about 1.5 GB) downloads once into Application Support. Later runs only process the song.
Windows and Linux?
Finder is a Mac feature. On other systems Spdio has no file picker: you would pass file paths as arguments. This page is for Mac.
